This care directive (CD) authorizes the Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Dietitian (RD) working in the Diabetes Centre who have obtained the competency requirements outlined below to order laboratory tests for eligible patients.

This CD is in accordance with the Diabetes Care Program of Nova Scotia (DCPNS) Vision and Mandate and the Diabetes Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG).

Note: This CD does not apply to graduate nurses and student nurses.
